Moving to Merida Mexico

When I decided to move to Merida Mexico I had no idea where I was going. Apart from a Tiktok, I had seen I had no information about the city.

I visited Mexico City back in 1989 or so for a brief period and that was it. I just knew I wanted a safer more peaceful and more economical way of living. and off to Merida Mexico, I went.

My first impression of Merida Mexico was that it was small and quaint. However, my little tiny island of Jamaica could fit into it many times over.

Although my friends were a bit worried about me coming to this part of the world, I felt instantly safe and welcome in Merida. The people here are incredibly friendly, and helpful. They will always go out of their way to make you feel at home.

The culture here is fascinating as there is such a mix of influences including European colonialism and traditional Mayan/Mexican heritage. From the food, architecture, markets, music, and art. There is so much to explore!

Nature lovers won’t be disappointed either. The Yucatan Peninsula has many incredible natural parks and reserves where you can see:

  • Wild animals such as ocelots and jaguars
  • Breathtaking waterfalls
