My Story
Reinventing life after 50 is not something most people plan for. It finds you, usually in the middle of your greatest storm, when everything you thought you knew about yourself is being tested. That’s exactly how it found me.
My name is Claudette. I’m a proud Jamaican woman, mother, author, herbalist, content creator, and entrepreneur. And I am living proof that a fresh start after 50 is not just possible, it is the most powerful thing you will ever do for yourself.
Why I Started This Blog
Ten years ago, at 53, I hit rock bottom. I had just lost my job and found myself having to begin again, emotionally, financially, and spiritually. I had no roadmap, no backup plan, and no idea what came next. Every day felt like Groundhog Day. I was stuck in a routine that offered no joy, no direction, and no purpose.
I loved my career as a swimwear and exotic costume designer, but the hustle had worn me down. I found myself slowly slipping into depression, questioning not just my path but my life.
So I made a decision that changed everything. I chose rebirth, and everything changed.
50Plus Rebirth was born from that decision. It started as my lifeline. A space to process my journey, speak my truth, and connect with other women who were also finding the courage to begin again. What started as a whisper of hope in the dark has grown into a movement of strength, healing, and resilience after 50. One honest story at a time.

Where I Am Now
Today I am 63 years old, based in Kingston, Jamaica, and I am still rising. I am the author of Rooted Again, a book about Jamaican herbs available on Amazon. I run Claudette’s Jamaican Herbs, bringing Ministry certified dried herbs and wellness products to the world. I’m also on YouTube as the Jamaican Gypsy Granny where I share Jamaican history, culture, travel, and herbal wellness and Fifty Plus Rebirth where I connect with women who refuse to play small.
You Are Not Alone
I believe in starting over, not just once, but as many times as it takes. I believe that no matter how far you’ve fallen or how lost you feel, there is always a path back to yourself. And I know that for many of us, the second half of life is when we finally stop pretending and start living.
