The Rebirthers Wellness Retreat for Women is coming to Portland, Jamaica this October, and there is nothing else like it anywhere on this island. Eight days. A small circle of women. Wellness retreat for women

Why Portland Jamaica?

To understand why I chose Portland, you need to know where I come from.

There is a road in Portland, Jamaica called Spring Bank Road.

I have not stood on that road in a very long time. But I have never stopped knowing exactly where it is. The way it felt under my feet as a child. The sound of the river running through the back of the yard. The weight of the trees in the garden. Old trees, serious trees, the kind that have been standing long enough to know things.

I was born on that road. Raised in a house where my mother ran two stores and my father drove off every morning to photograph the world for the Jamaica Gleaner. We had helpers. We had land. We had the particular kind of childhood that Portland gives you when you are small enough to take it all for granted: the clean air, the green hills, the water that moves like it has somewhere important to be.

I did not know then that I was storing all of it. Every smell, every sound, every morning. I did not know that decades later I would reach back for those memories the way you reach for something solid when the ground shifts under you.

Because the ground shifted.

My Reasons behind Offering a Wellness Retreat for Women

We moved to Kingston. And what was waiting for me there changed everything. A grandfather who should have been my safe place became instead the person who tore my childhood open. Who took something from a little girl that no little girl should ever have taken from her.

Just like that, the girl from Spring Bank Road was gone.

What came after was a different life entirely. A harder life. A life that asked me to be strong before I was ready, to rebuild before I had finished grieving, to keep moving when everything in me wanted to stop. I became an entrepreneur. A designer. An herbalist. A content creator. A woman who pivoted and started over so many times that starting over stopped feeling like failure and started feeling like a skill.

I built things. I lost things. I built again.

And through all of those decades of building and losing and building again, Portland was always there in the back of my mind. Quiet. Patient. Waiting.

I think I always knew I was going back. I just did not know what I was going back to do.

Now I know.

Introducing the Rebirthers Wellness Retreat

This October, I am returning to Portland, Jamaica. To the parish where I was born, where the river still runs and the trees are still standing and the air still smells like everything I stored away as a child on Spring Bank Road.

And I am not going alone.

The Rebirthers Wellness Retreat for Women runs October 22 to 29, 2026. Eight days and seven nights on a stunning private property in Portland, Jamaica. We’ll have exclusive use of the property. It is surrounded by nature that will do something to your nervous system that no supplement, no spa day, and no weekend getaway ever could.

This is an intimate experience, deliberately and intentionally small. A circle of women gathered in one of the most breathtaking corners of this island to learn, to heal, and to come home to themselves.

There are two ways to experience it.

The Jamaican Herbal Retreat

The Jamaican herbal retreat introduces you to the natural herbs found growing across Jamaica. Over the years, more and more people have been moving away from synthetic solutions and turning to herbal products to improve their wellbeing. That shift is not new to us. Jamaicans have been using herbs when nothing else worked for as long as anyone can remember.

The Jamaican herbal retreat is designed to educate you on Jamaican herbs and their uses. This knowledge allows you to make informed decisions when you are looking for natural remedies and herbal solutions to support your health. We do not claim to replace medical advice. What we do offer is something that has sustained generations of Jamaicans: the wisdom to know what grows around you, what it does, and how to use it. That knowledge will serve you for years to come.

The Herbal Immersion: $3,500 USD

This offering is for the woman who is curious. Who has always felt the pull of plants and natural healing but never had the right teacher or the right environment to go deep. Over eight days you will sit with Jamaican herbs that have been healing people on this island for centuries. You will learn them not just with your head but with your hands, your nose, and your body. You will leave with knowledge you will carry and use for the rest of your life.

This is plant wisdom in its most grounded form. Moringa. Cerasee. Soursop leaves. Sarsaparilla. Shame a macka. The herbs that grew in every Jamaican yard, that the old people always kept close, that modern science is only now catching up to understanding. You will touch them, prepare them, understand what they do and why, and you will go home knowing things about natural healing that most people never get to learn.

Psilocybin Retreat Jamaica

Psilocybin retreat Jamaica

Psilocybin mushrooms, also known as magic mushrooms, are a naturally occurring fungi found in many parts of the world. They contain a naturally occurring psychoactive compound called Psilocybin, which when consumed causes shifts in perception, thought, and emotion. Unlike synthetic substances, Psilocybin mushrooms grow from the earth and have been part of indigenous healing and spiritual traditions across Mexico, Central America, Africa, and beyond for thousands of years. Today they are at the centre of a growing body of scientific research and a global conversation about mental health, healing, and human consciousness.
When consumed in a controlled and intentional setting, Psilocybin works by temporarily altering the way the brain processes information. It reduces activity in the part of the brain responsible for the inner critic, that constant loop of negative self-talk, rumination, and rigid thinking that keeps many people stuck. At the same time it increases connectivity between parts of the brain that do not normally communicate with each other. The result is a state of expanded awareness, emotional openness, and often profound insight into patterns, beliefs, and experiences that have been shaping a person’s life without their full awareness.

The Plant Medicine Journey: $4,500 USD

This offering goes deeper. Significantly deeper.

The Plant Medicine Journey is for the woman who is ready to do real work. Not learning work; healing work. The kind that asks you to be honest with yourself about what you have been carrying and whether you are finally, truly ready to put it down.

The Plant Medicine Journey is built around the Psilocybin healing experiences. It includes full herbal programming with Claudette, one dedicated workshop session on Jamaican bush medicine, and everything the land and community have to offer.

I want to pause here and speak plainly because this deserves clarity.

Psilocybin mushrooms have never been prohibited under Jamaican law. They are not a controlled substance under Jamaica’s Dangerous Drugs Act. They are legal in Jamaica for possession, use, sale, and cultivation, and the Jamaican government is actively encouraging the development of the Psilocybin industry on the island. This is not a grey area or a loophole. This is Jamaican law as it stands and has always stood.

What this means is that the Plant Medicine Journey operates in one of the only places in the world where this kind of healing can happen openly, legally, and with full intention.

Psilocybin assisted healing is not recreational. It is not something you stumble into casually. When held properly, in a safe container, with experienced facilitation, in a natural environment, with proper preparation and integration support, it is one of the most profound healing tools available to human beings. Research from institutions including Johns Hopkins University and NYU has shown its remarkable potential for treating depression, anxiety, trauma, and the kind of deep grief that conventional approaches often cannot reach.

Women who have been carrying old wounds for decades. Women who have tried everything and still feel stuck. Women who are ready, really ready, to go all the way down and come back lighter.

Caution:

One important note for international guests: Psilocybin is legal within Jamaica but remains controlled in many other countries including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. All plant medicine experiences take place exclusively within Jamaica and nothing crosses any border. This is made clear in our registration materials and every guest signs a full acknowledgment before participating.

Who Benefits from the Wellness Retreat

I want to be honest about who I built the Wellness Retreat for Women for, because this experience is not for everyone, and I am not trying to make it for everyone.

I built it for the woman who is done with half measures. Who has tried the weekend spa break and came home still exhausted. Who has read all the books and taken all the courses and still feels like something is missing. Who has been strong for so long that she has almost forgotten what it feels like to be held instead of holding.

I built it for the woman over fifty who has spent the last few decades building a life for everyone around her and is finally ready, truly ready, to build something for herself.

I built it for the woman in the diaspora who left Jamaica years ago and built a whole life somewhere else but still feels that pull. That quiet, persistent pull that has no clean explanation but feels like the island is calling her home for something specific.

And I built it for the younger woman who is already awake to her healing journey and wants to go deeper in a space that is rooted in real ancestral knowledge. Real plants. Real land. Real history.

If you heard yourself in any of that, this was made for you.

The Real Deal About Portland Jamaica

I chose Portland deliberately. And the more I sit with that choice the more certain I am that it was the right one.

The Soul of the Land

Portland is not just scenery. It is not simply the most beautiful parish in Jamaica, though it is that. Portland is a place with a soul. A place that has been holding the stories of people who refused to be broken for centuries before any of us arrived.

This is the land of the Maroons. The Africans who escaped slavery and ran into the Blue Mountains, those same mountains you can see from the property where we will gather, and built free communities when freedom was not supposed to be available to them. The Moore Town Maroons of Portland gave Jamaica its only National Heroine: the Right Excellent Queen Nanny of the Maroons, a woman who led her people in battle against the British and won. Her culture is so significant that UNESCO inscribed the Maroon heritage of Portland on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Think about that. The land where we are gathering is the same land where women ran toward freedom when the world told them they had none.

The Mountains and the Rivers

Portland has seventeen rivers watering the whole parish. The Blue Mountains, the highest peaks in Jamaica, come within its boundaries. The mountains ensure the parish receives the highest rainfall on the island, which is why everything grows here with an abundance that feels almost supernatural. This is not coincidence. This is a land that was designed by nature to sustain life.

Portland is today celebrated as one of Jamaica’s most unspoiled parishes: a jewel of eco-tourism and cultural preservation. While the rest of the island developed and modernised, Portland stayed itself. Quiet. Rooted. Unbothered by the noise of the world outside its mountains.

The Water

And then there is the water. Moving, falling, pooling, running. Water that has been doing this since long before any plantation, any colonial boundary, any name given by any governor.

  • The Rio Grande
  • Reach Falls
  • Somerset Falls, tucked away in rainforest
  • The Blue Lagoon, a legendary deep blue natural pool
  • Frenchman’s Cove, where community and natural beauty meet
Reach falls Portland Jamaica

What the Land Does to You

There is something specific that happens to a woman’s nervous system when she is surrounded by this much living water and this much ancient green. Science is only beginning to understand what the old people of this island already knew:

  • That nature heals in ways that nothing else can replicate
  • That moving water releases something in the body
  • That old trees breathe something into the air that calms the mind at a cellular level

Portland has been doing this work for centuries.

It does not need our permission to heal us. It just needs us to show up and be still enough to receive it.

You do not have to be Jamaican for Portland to claim you. You do not have to have history here. You just have to arrive open. And the land will do the rest.

On October 24th, day three of the retreat, I will quietly celebrate a birthday. In Portland. Doing the work I was put here to do. Surrounded by women who were brave enough to come.

I cannot think of a better way to mark another year.
