Are you over 50 and wondering what’s next in life? You’re not alone. By 2050, it is projected that the population of individuals aged 65 and older will increase twofold, reaching an estimated 1.6 billion.
But what does life after 50 looks like? It’s a period of new growth, change, and sometimes challenges.
That’s why I started this blog to share my personal experiences. I hope to offer insights into the ups and downs of navigating this journey called life after 50.
From building relationships and staying active to self-care and setting boundaries. I will try to provide a community where we can support and encourage each other to live our best lives.
Rebirth
A period of new life, growth, or activity. I decided to start a blog dealing with life after 50 at 53. I am now 60. Procrastination, self-doubt, and other factors held me back I never gave up and here I am at it again. I wanted to analyze the challenges, the joys, and the ups and downs of surviving fifty-plus years.
Many of us achieved the goals we set when we left school or home. Some are living in the delightful cocoon of achievement, family, and love.
The truth is many never realized their dreams. Some of us got lost while navigating this journey called life.
Bad choices in life, difficult circumstances, and personal loss can cause us to lose our way. Some of us fell due to the hand that life dealt us.
Many are no longer with us. Some of us experienced emotional and spiritual disconnection. We isolate ourselves from others in an attempt to shield ourselves from further emotional or physical turmoil.
My journey took me uphill and down. Many times I felt that the meaning of life was gone. I could no longer see the point of trying. But I never gave up and kept putting one foot before the other.
Restricted by fear, I left many good ideas by the wayside. I talked myself out of taking that first step, this blog being a case in point.
Five years ago, I celebrated my 40th high school reunion. It renewed in me a desire to take life to the next level. I reconnected with new friends and renewed bonds. Though latent over the years, there was a seamless integration over the period of celebration. It made me realize that whatever experience you are having you are never alone. In sharing, renewed strength and hope is possible. I am now sixty and still trying to overcome.
Through this community, I hope to provide a forum where we can share the good, the bad, and the ugly. Where we know that whatever we are facing, we are never alone. It’s never ever too late to start all over again.
